Viton Rubber

Viton Rubber

Viton Rubber

It is the option to consider when the combination of deteriorating as high temperature chemical attack and change ineffective the rest of elastomeric materials. Used in the petrochemical and food industry processes.

Mainly used as sealing gaskets in high temperature services and/or with aggressive chemical products.

what is viton rubber?

Viton - orings. Viton® is a thermopolymer of hexafluorpropylene, with vinylidene fluoride, tetrafluoroethylene and methylvinyl etherperfluoro. Its international abbreviation is FPM or FKM (Fluorocarbon monomer).

Viton - Orings. Fluorocarbon is well known as a high performance rubber, especially resistant to high temperatures, ozone, weather, oxygen, mineral, oil, fuel, hydraulic fluids, aromatics and many organic and chemical solvents.

Viton rubber properties:

  • Shore “A” hardness: 70-75
  • Tensile strength, minimal: 750 PSIA
  • Elongation, minimal: 340 %
  • Temperature Range: -58 to 500 °F
  • Oils: Excellent
  • Acids: Excellent
  • Outdoors: Excellent
  • Abrasion: Medium

Product Dimensions

  • Plate: 1/16" to 1/2" thickness

What is viton rubber used for?

  1. It can be used in applications that most other elastomers do not withstand such as gaskets for gasoline, seals for chemical industry tanks containing e.g. acetones or acids.
  2. Excellent in applications requiring both heat and solvent resistance.
  3. Ideal for chemical industry.
  4. O'Rings manufacturing.
  5. Viton seals for Combustion Systems.
  6. Manufacture of hose lines.
viton gasket

Viton gasket

it is used in extreme conditions of chemical attack and high temperature. Its only real limit to be used, is its very high cost. Very useful in the oil industry and in the process and food industries.

There are several types of Viton® sheet optimized for different end uses. It is requested from heavy industries such as refineries, oil refineries, steel mills or chemical plants but also in industries with special requirements such as the food industry.

What is viton gasket?

Viton® is the most excellent elastomer, resistant to all deteriorating factors of rubber in general, to inorganic chemical products, hydrocarbons and temperatures up to 500°F;

Viton gaskets features

  1. They are among the most resistant synthetic rubbers to hydrocarbons, both aliphatic and aromatic and chlorinated.
  2. They have a high resistance to water and water vapor but in this case should not be superimposed at 150°C.
  3. Excellent resistance to acids and alkalis, even oxidizing agents
  4. Weak resistance to ethers and ketones.
